Naval Submarine Base New London, Gorton, CT Naval Submarine Base New London is the primary United States Navy East Coast submarine base, also known as the "Home of the Submarine Force." It is located in Groton, Connecticut directly across the Thames River from its namesake city of New London. The submarine base is physically located in the Town of Groton, but New London became associated with it because the base had its main offices and housing in New London. Following World War I, the Navy established schools and training facilities at the base. Overview This position is for a Physician (Pediatrics) at Naval Submarine Base New London. Responsibilities Scope of services includes examination, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of newborns, infants, children, and adolescents. Provide a broad spectrum of health services ranging from preventative health care and developmental health care needs to the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic diseases. Offer first contact, continuous, comprehensive primary care for newborns, infants, children, and adolescents according to current standards of care, the patient centered medical home model of care, Army policy, and relevant regulations. Lead a multi-disciplinary team of individuals collectively responsible for ongoing patient care. Complete required records (both paper and electronic) for all medical services provided in accordance with specified procedures and regulations. Safeguard all reports and records according to HIPAA standards. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Must be a U.S. Citizen Basic Requirements for Physician (Pediatrics) Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada that is accredited by a recognized accrediting body. A foreign medical degree must be equivalent to U.S. standards, proven by certification from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates or similar. Licensure: Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory. Graduate Training: At least one year of supervised clinical experience (e.g., internship or first year of residency) in a hospital or accredited training institution. Residency Training: Applicants must have successfully completed accredited residency training in Pediatrics and equivalent experience of at least four years, with no substitution for required residency training. Salary Determination: The salary determination process begins after the initial job offer is accepted. The Activity Compensation Panel add base pay and market pay to determine starting salary.
