Registered Nurse (RN)

Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years required; 36 months of RN experience preferred with at least one year in an ICU setting. License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale Must-Have: Ability to care for up to 1-3 ICU patients. Comfort in managing patients on ventilators. Experience with bedside shift report during each transfer of care. Proficiency in reading telemetry strips. Advanced skills in CRRT and advanced hemodynamics. Experience with EVDs, bolts, and Arctic Sun procedures for induced hypothermia.

Description: Traveler will be scheduled according to facility policy. Expectation to work every other weekend and holidays in rotation with other staff. Unit consists of 28 mixed ICU beds with a patient ratio of 1:2, 1:3, managing inpatient admissions. Travelers are the first to float, which may include transitions to emergency departments or other care units. Documentation utilizes a mobile computer workstation on wheels. Nurses administer respiratory treatments, including inhalers and nebulizers, outside of the ICU. Postoperative care includes CABG and managing devices like Impellas, balloon pumps, and Swan Ganz catheters. Supportive management and teamwork are emphasized for a balanced work environment. The unit is keen on training travelers interested in developing as skilled ICU nurses. Exceptional training opportunities are offered for head and neck flap procedures.
