Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | 3x12-Hour Shifts | 36 or 48 hours per week available | 13–20 week contract

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio, managing a diverse patient population including diagnoses such as diabetes, COPD, sepsis, CHF, GI bleed, renal failure, pneumonia, and various surgical recovery cases
• Monitor, interpret, and manage cardiac dysrhythmias via telemetry and remote monitoring systems
• Perform and manage IV therapy, central line blood draws, PICC line care, phlebotomy, and administration of blood products, heparin, insulin, and PCA
• Provide respiratory support including BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Deliver wound care, wound vac management, colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, and surgical drain care
• Float to additional units as required and participate in storm, hurricane, and disaster response teams as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Carolina or a valid Compact state license
• Minimum of 2 years of Medical Surgical and/or Telemetry nursing experience
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications
• Proficiency in telemetry interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with Pyxis medication dispensing system
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start; ability to work every other weekend and at least 2 of 3 major holidays required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification; experience with on-unit telemetry monitoring, post-angiogram, post-cardiac surgery, post-MI care, and IV insulin protocols
• Experience with tracheostomy care, continuous bladder irrigation, port access and management, arterial blood gas interpretation, and pre/post thoracic surgery care
• Background in bariatric surgery, CVA management, substance withdrawal, and community hospital settings
• Previous charge nurse experience and proficiency with electronic documentation
