Branch Support SupervisorThe Branch Support Supervisor is responsible for leading and overseeing daily branch balancing activities across the Harris County Tax Office, ensuring branch transactions are balanced accurately and timely. This position supervises staff responsible for reviewing branch activity, processing local refunds, voids, bank deposits, and supporting documentation; monitors workload and resolves discrepancies and escalated issues.The role ensures required documentation is properly maintained and provides support to customers and branch staff via phone and email regarding all transactions. The Branch Support Supervisor also supports the Accounting Manager through staff development, cross-training, internal controls, process improvement, reporting, and continuity of daily operations.Branch Transaction & Deposit Reconciliation:Reconcile assigned branch activity by verifying registration, title, local refunds submissions received from branches, voids, and other branch transactions against bank deposits and supporting documentation; ensure discrepancies are identified, researched, resolved, or escalatedBranch Documentation & Records Management:Oversee organization and separation of title-related paperwork received from branches for scanning and final distribution, ensuring documentation supports accurate and timely transaction verification.Team Leadership & Performance Management:Provide direct leadership for the branch balancing function: set priorities; monitor workload, accuracy, timeliness, and service levels; coach employees; manage performance; and foster a collaborative, high-performance culture aligned with departmental goals.Exception Management & Branch Resolution:Monitor unresolved branch-balancing items, identify recurring discrepancies, and coordinate with branches and other departments to ensure exceptions have clear ownership through resolution.Process Improvement & Best Practices:Identify and lead process improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls for branch balancing; document workflows and best practices; and support technology or system enhancements.Training & Employee Development:Ensure employees are properly trained and cross-trained; maintain current job manuals and procedures; identify skill gaps; and develop employees for increased responsibility.Cross-Functional Collaboration & Coverage:Collaborate with other managers to resolve issues, balance workload, and maintain continuity of critical operations; provide backup coverage for related functions so no critical process depends on a single employee or team. This role maintains reciprocal operational knowledge with the ACH & Returns Manager, sufficient to provide direct coverage of ACH & Returns functions during absences or periods of high volume.Controls, Compliance & Audit Support:Maintain internal controls and compliance with applicable policies and statutory requirements; provide documentation, explanations, and operational support for internal and external audits related to branch balancing and deposit verification.Leadership Partnership & Departmental Communication:Partner with fellow managers and senior leadership on KPIs, workload trends, staffing needs, policy changes, and department priorities; provide leadership input into process, policy, and technology decisions.Harris County is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Physical Demands: • This role is a standard office role that requires remaining stationary for long periods of time.
