Inspector Apprentice (Manheim)

Job Title Inspector Apprentice – Vehicle Operations Compensation Hourly base pay rate: $16.44 – $24.62 per hour. May be eligible for commission or incentive program. Job Summary Conduct inspections of incoming vehicles to detect damage, missing parts, and mechanical problems. Prepare and submit reports of vehicle condition, repair/replacement cost estimates, and related documentation. Responsibilities Verify vehicle information based on work order; identify damage, missing parts, and mechanical problems by inspecting all aspects of customer vehicles at receipt (interior, exterior, odometer, trunk, engine compartment), noting any damage or repair to frame/paint, engine noise, AC/heater operation, radio, tire condition, etc. Prepare and complete all necessary documentation, including Electronic Condition Reports (ECR) and day‑end procedures. Set up system for day‑end and perform day‑end procedures. Maintain knowledge of policies, procedures, and system capabilities; stay current with software packages and web‑based applications. Conduct OVE courtesy walk‑around inspections and keep abreast of improvements and changes concerning body mechanical, frame labor, and inspection techniques. Demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling related behaviors. Actively participate in all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence. Perform other duties as assigned by management. May be required to work overtime as business needs dictate. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Generally, less than 2 years of experience. Valid driver’s license and safe driving record required. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong technical understanding and good organizational skills. Ability to multitask, follow directions, and take instruction. Advanced computer skills. Physical requirements: ability to stand, walk, or sit for prolonged periods; bend, stoop, squat, or kneel; lift and hold at least 10 lbs at waist level for an extended period; lift up to 30 lbs. Work Environment Exposure to outdoor weather and inclement conditions (100% outdoors). Moderate noise level. May be exposed to fumes and odors. May be required to work overtime beyond 40 hours per week as business needs dictate. Drug Testing Pre‑employment drug test required, excluding marijuana.
