Northeast Regional Manager, Energy - Underwriting

Responsibilities Manage all underwriting activities within the Northeast region, establishing, implementing, and evaluating production and profitability goals. Hold direct accountability for the business results of the region in terms of profitability, penetration, and volume within Energy. Drive and execute the long‑term business strategy for Northeast Energy. Serve as a technical expert and exercise technical authority regarding Energy underwriting. Manage the annual budget process for Energy and monthly forecasts within the region. Collaborate with leadership and HR to implement tools and strategies that attract, retain, and develop top industry talent, building high‑performing teams. Identify gaps in bench strength and coordinate development, training, and recruiting initiatives to address skill deficiencies. Establish strong relationships with zonal leadership to create mutual understanding of overall parameters, goals, and effective execution of the business model. Engage with all levels of the insurance community and promote a culture of collaboration, diversity, and inclusion. Oversee all underwriters within the region, including managing and evaluating staff performance, making decisions on pay, performance management, development, employment, and staffing. Ensure governance, systems, controls, and regulatory compliance standards are established and maintained. Qualifications Strategic orientation with the ability to manage vision and purpose while developing organizational capability. Results orientation and strong influencing and communication skills. Ability to work across multiple areas of the company and industries. Demonstrated experience assessing and developing talent. Proficiency in change management and leading teams. Minimum 7–9 years of experience in a commercial insurance company, agency, or brokerage. Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university. Analytical and quantitative skills with familiarity with actuarial data. Knowledge of market segmentation, portfolio management, acquisition, and distribution. Process and system skills. Experience with budgeting and expense control. Benefits For positions based in NewYork, the base salary range is $176,000–$220,000 and the role is eligible for a bonus under the applicable incentive plan.
