Tax Accountant
Overtime Required During Busy SeasonPosition Overview
Our growing CPA firm is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Tax Accountant to join our team. This role supports tax preparation, compliance, planning, and advisory services for a diverse client base. In addition to tax work, this position assists with business consulting and ongoing accounting services.
The ideal candidate will have strong technical tax knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines—especially during peak tax season. Overtime is required during busy season.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Preparation
Prepare and review federal and state tax returns for:
- Individuals
- Partnerships
- Corporations (S-Corp & C-Corp)
- Not-for-Profits
- Estates and Trusts
Tax Planning & Compliance
- Assist with proactive tax planning strategies for individuals and businesses
- Identify tax-saving opportunities
- Prepare year-end tax projections
- Ensure accurate and timely filing of returns
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations
- Respond to tax notices and correspondence
IRS Representation
- Assist with client representation before the Internal Revenue Service
- Prepare documentation for audits and inquiries
Business Advisory & Consulting Services
New Business Setup
- Advise clients on entity selection and formation
- Assist with obtaining a Federal Employer Identification Number (EIN)
- Support Secretary of State registration filings
- Guide clients through accounting software setup including QuickBooks, Wave, and Zoho
- Provide initial business consultation and financial guidance
Financial Analysis & Guidance
- Analyze profitability and spending trends
- Provide strategic financial insight and operational recommendations
- Assist clients with budgeting and cash flow management
Accounting & Bookkeeping Services
- Monthly accounting and bookkeeping
- Bank reconciliations
- Financial statement preparation
- Customer invoicing
- Bill payment processing
- Chart of accounts setup and maintenance
- Payroll setup and processing
- Bookkeeping review and cleanup
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred
- CPA license or CPA candidate preferred
- 1–3+ years of tax preparation experience (public accounting preferred)
- Experience with individual and business tax returns
- Familiarity with accounting software platforms
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work overtime during busy season
