Position Description The UC Davis Writing Center invites applications for lecturers to teach general education writing courses at the entry level, first year and/or upper division. A PhD in Rhetoric and Composition/Writing Studies or closely related field is preferred. An MA, MS, or graduate specialization in Rhetoric and Composition/Writing Studies or closely related field will also be considered. University-level experience in teaching developmental writing is desired. We are interested in candidates, as well, who have experience teaching hybrid courses and contributing to curriculum and faculty development projects. Ability to work successfully with a student population that is linguistically and culturally diverse is also very important. Successful candidates will be familiar with contemporary composition theory and practice. The Writing Center is a unit that houses writing instruction as well as writing support, tutoring and consulting. Degrees in other fields may be considered along with relevant teaching experience. Additional qualifications Additional qualifications include experience teaching one or more of the following: developmental writing, basic writing, developmental reading. Preferred qualifications Preferred qualifications include university-level experience in teaching diverse student populations, bilingual and multilingual students, first-generation college students, and writing across the curriculum courses. Preferred qualifications also include experience teaching hybrid and online courses and contributing to curriculum and faculty development projects.
