Position Overview:

Our nursing team operates in collaborative settings alongside robust interdisciplinary groups, emphasizing a patient-centered care approach within a richly diverse environment. Under the guidance and general oversight of the Nurse Manager, the registered nurse applies evidence-based practices in line with the State Nurse Practice Act, hospital policies, and directives from the medical staff. Utilizing their knowledge and skills, the registered nurse employs the nursing process to create a care plan that addresses the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs of both patients and their families.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
Experience: At least one (1) year of experience and/or successful completion of the Nurse Residency Program.
License and Certification: Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in good standing in the State of Connecticut. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire. Must be able to obtain and maintain department-specific certifications.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
Experience: Two (2) or more years of experience in the relevant clinical area.
License and Certification: Certification in the clinical specialty area. CNOR certification preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Fundamental understanding of nursing principles and practices. Ability to comprehend and follow both oral and written instructions. Effective communication skills to relay technical or complex information and provide guidance. Strong interpersonal skills to interact with departments, colleagues, physicians, managers, and patients. Capacity to manage multiple priorities, demonstrate flexibility, and work collaboratively as part of a team. Ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment. Commitment to exceptional customer service. Basic computer skills for data entry and retrieval.

PROBLEM SOLVING AND DECISION MAKING
Requires a high level of analytical ability to gather and interpret information from various sources. Capable of taking appropriate actions in response to changing circumstances, challenges, and emergency situations. Must maintain confidentiality at all times.
