About the Role
The Company is in search of a Managing Director, Head of Data Engineering to spearhead a significant enterprise data and digital transformation. The successful candidate will be tasked with leading the stabilization, modernization, and scaling of data engineering capabilities to support a range of use cases, including analytics, AI, regulatory, and front-office. This role demands a leader with a strong technical background in modern data architectures, cloud platforms, and data engineering practices, particularly with experience in Azure and Databricks. The Head of Data Engineering will be responsible for owning and leading all aspects of enterprise data engineering, from platforms to delivery teams, and must have a proven track record in transforming and modernizing legacy systems. Key responsibilities for this position include establishing and maintaining clear execution standards, driving the adoption of a product-centric model for data assets, and leading the rationalization and decommissioning of legacy data platforms. The role also requires a leader with executive-level communication and stakeholder management skills, who can effectively partner with technology, product, and business leaders to ensure aligned execution. The ideal candidate will have a collaborative, servant-leader mindset, and a strong focus on fostering a high-performance culture. Experience in operating within complex, global delivery models and a background in data operations or production support leadership are also essential. The role is pivotal in leading a large, distributed organization and requires a leader with a strong character, emotional intelligence, and the ability to make difficult decisions while maintaining trust and a positive culture.
