Job Description

Join a specialized wire and cable manufacturing team as an Extrusion Operator on 3rd shift, where you will set up, operate, and monitor custom-built extrusion equipment to produce high-quality products for a wide range of industries. You will work with unique, internally designed machinery, apply your mechanical aptitude, and ensure consistent production quality in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up extrusion machines according to production specifications, ensuring correct tooling, materials, and settings are in place before starting a run.
• Operate extrusion equipment independently on 3rd shift to produce wire and cable products that meet quality and performance standards.
• Monitor machines during operation, adjusting speeds, temperatures, and other parameters to maintain consistent product quality and throughput.
• Perform routine inspections of parts and products using tools such as calipers, tape measures, and other measuring instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances.
• Interpret and follow blueprints, work instructions, and production documentation to ensure correct setup and product configuration.
• Use hand tools and basic mechanical skills to perform minor adjustments, changeovers, and maintenance tasks on extrusion equipment.
• Troubleshoot basic machine and process issues, identifying root causes and making appropriate adjustments or escalating when necessary.
• Assist with general production tasks, including material handling, assembly-related activities, and preparation of components for extrusion.
• Document production data, including counts, measurements, and inspection results, to support quality control and continuous improvement efforts.
• Work collaboratively with other team members and shifts to ensure smooth handoffs, consistent processes, and efficient production flow.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, following safety procedures and manufacturing best practices at all times.

Essential Skills

• Previous experience as an extrusion operator or in a similar machine operation role, with the ability to set up and run production equipment.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, with comfort using hand tools and performing basic mechanical tasks.
• Experience in machine operation and production environments, including operating or supporting manufacturing equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and production documentation.
• Proficiency using measuring tools such as tape measures and calipers for inspection and quality checks.
• Basic troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve routine machine or process issues.
• Comfort working in a manufacturing environment that is not climate controlled and can be fairly loud.
• Stable and well-tenured work history that reflects reliability and commitment.
• Ability to work 3rd shift hours (10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Sunday through Thursday) and complete training on 1st shift as needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior extrusion experience, with at least 2 years of relevant experience considered highly beneficial.
• Experience in roles requiring hands-on mechanical work, such as hardware store or industrial supply environments, demonstrating strong mechanical aptitude.
• Familiarity with CNC or other automated production equipment.
• Experience in inspection, assembly, or production support within a manufacturing setting.
• Comfort working with specialized, internally designed machinery and learning unique processes.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality products.

Work Environment

This role is based in a wire and cable manufacturing facility that serves a variety of industries, including demanding sectors such as military contracting and logistics. The production floor features internally designed, highly specialized extrusion machines, giving you exposure to unique equipment and processes not found in typical plants. The environment is a traditional manufacturing setting that is not climate controlled and can be fairly loud, so you should be comfortable working in varying temperatures and around ongoing machine noise. You will work primarily on 3rd shift from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, with training offered flexibly and ideally conducted on 1st shift. Standard industrial attire and appropriate personal protective equipment are expected to support safety and productivity on the floor.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of York, PA.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in York,PA.
