Make an impact in the lives of young learners by supporting a local school community as a Special Education Teacher for a short-term contract. Located near Elgin, IL, this full-time opportunity is perfect for those who are passionate about helping 3rd-5th grade students thrive both academically and socially. You’ll provide classroom coverage during a short-term leave from November 2, 2026 through January 28, 2027, excluding winter break, holidays, and student non-attendance days.
Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement required
- Experience working as a Special Education Teacher in elementary settings is strongly preferred
- Adaptability and confidence to support various special education settings and caseloads (information on specific caseload is forthcoming; flexibility is essential)
- Strong communication and collaborative skills to work with diverse teams of educators, families, and support staff
- Dedication to fostering an inclusive, positive learning environment that helps all students reach their individual potential
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality instruction tailored to the unique learning needs of students in grades 3 through 5
- Implement IEPs and contribute to IEP meetings as needed
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, aides, and related service providers
- Track student progress and maintain up-to-date documentation
- Communicate regularly with families and staff to ensure strong support and continuity of services
