Shift: 3x12-Hour (06:45 - 19:15)

Description: RTO after booking is NOT allowed and is NOT allowed to be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on the unit could possibly turn into a cancel and DNR. Must be able to titrate LEVO. Must have a teamwork approach and meet Novant behavioral expectations in all interactions with patients and staff. Must be able to adhere to the call-off policy -STRONGLY ENFORCED.

Required Skills / Certs / Exp:

• Minimum Years of Experience: 2 Years Minimum Experience REQUIRED.
• NM requesting Neuro experience - If limited, please screen and call out at the bottom of the summary note.
• Traveler Experience: Unit WILL NOT Accept 1st Time Travelers

• Work Setting Skills REQUIRED: Neuro Stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown & Telemetry
• Cardiac Monitoring and Emergency Response Skills REQUIRED: Interpretation of dysrhythmias, Management of dysrhythmias, Telemetry - on the unit monitoring & Use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• Cardiovascular Skills REQUIRED: TR Band
• Endocrine/Metabolic Skills REQUIRED: IV insulin protocols & Titration of Insulin drips
• Genitourinary/Renal Skills REQUIRED: Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI) & Pre/Post Hemodialysis Management
• IV therapy/Phlebotomy Skills REQUIRED: Blood Product Administration, Central line care/management, Peripheral Line Care/Management, PICC line management & Starting and maintaining IVs
• Medications Skills REQUIRED: Heparin Protocols, PCA, Thrombolytic Agents, Titrate Cardiac drips & Titrate Vasoactive drips
• Neurological/Psychiatric Skills REQUIRED: Aneurysms and repair, Craniotomy, CVA (Cerebrovascular Accident), Intracranial bleeds, Lumbar drains, Post TPA care, Pre/Post neurosurgery, Seizure disorders, Spinal cord injury, Substance Withdrawal & Traumatic Brain injury
• Plastics Skills REQUIRED: Surgical Drains
• Respiratory Skills REQUIRED: BiPAP/CPAP management/maintenance, Care of Ventilated Patient, Chest tubes-Emerson/PleurEvac, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), Interpretation of Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs), Nasal Cannula, Non-invasive airway management, Oxygen administration, Oxygen tanks & Tracheostomy care/management
• Professional Topics and Skills REQUIRED: Isolation Precautions/PPE & Wound Care/Wound Vac
• Additional Skills REQUIRED: Must be able to titrate LEVO & SCREEN + Call out if Neuro exp is limited
• EPIC EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• Certs: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS PREFERRED

Job Details:

• Ratios: 1:4. Avg. Daily Census: Unit will max at 24 patients; Rooms/Beds: 24
• "Normal population"= Intermediate population that is sub-specialized with neurological population along with medical intermediate patients.
• Shift: 36 and 48s can be offered
• Unit Will Accept 13 - 26 Weeks!
• 12-HOUR DAYS; 06:45 - 19:15
• Call Requirement: NONE
• Float Requirement: Other intermediate areas like 6a or 5A PCTU or 5C Cardiac Intermediate along with critical care (ICU/Stepdown patients)
• Weekend Requirement: Travelers will be required to work a minimum of 3 weekend shifts every six weeks

Patient Diagnoses: Intermediate population that is sub specialized with neurological population along with medical intermediate patients.

Special Procedures / Unit Details: This patient population will be geared towards the neurological patients along with the medical intermediate patient population. Must have a teamwork approach and meet Novant behavioral expectations in all interactions with patients and staff. Must be able to adhere to Call off policy -STRONGLY ENFORCED.

Scheduling Type: Per Unit Needs

Unit Orientation: 32 Hours; 8-hour computer class plus two shifts on the unit of orientation after initial Hospital Orientation.

Scrubs: Not Provided. Any combination of navy blue and white.
