About the Position

The unit has a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4. The population consists of patients with hematology, medical oncology, bone marrow transplant, and gynecologic and surgical oncology conditions. The unit includes a 7-bed positive pressure wing for bone marrow transplant and acute leukemia patients. Bedside central venous catheter placements and bone marrow biopsies may be performed. Equipment used includes Alaris IV pumps integrated with Epic, barcode medication administration systems, SCD machines, and Alaris feeding pumps. Skills required include accessing and managing ports, administration of chemotherapy, blood product administration, and interpretation of dysrhythmias. Experience with telemetry is required, including on-unit and remote monitoring. Patient diagnoses primarily involve cancer treatments. Special procedures include chemotherapy infusion and managing patients undergoing bone marrow transplants. The unit supports interdisciplinary collaboration with various healthcare teams. COVID-19 and flu vaccinations are required, with exemptions allowed for medical or religious reasons. Travelers should be comfortable with potential assignments to an emergency team as needed.
