Clinical Research Coordinator / Respiratory Therapist

Equity Medical is a rapidly growing multi-site clinical research organization conducting Phase II–IV clinical trials across multiple therapeutic areas including respiratory, allergy/immunology, dermatology, metabolic, rheumatology, and neurology. We are seeking an experienced Respiratory Therapist or Pulmonary Function Specialist to support the execution of pulmonary clinical trials and specialized respiratory assessments within our New York City research operations.

This role is ideal for candidates with strong pulmonary function testing (PFT) and spirometry experience who are interested in transitioning into or advancing within clinical research.

Position Summary

The Clinical Research Coordinator / Respiratory Therapist will support the execution of respiratory clinical trials with a primary focus on spirometry and pulmonary function testing (PFT) activities. This individual will be responsible for ensuring that pulmonary assessments are conducted in accordance with study protocols, ATS/ERS standardization guidelines, sponsor expectations, and internal quality standards.

In addition to respiratory testing responsibilities, this role will support general clinical research coordination activities including source documentation, EDC data entry, query resolution, study visit coordination, and sponsor communication.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, patient-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical research environment requiring precision and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform protocol-specific spirometry, bronchodilator responsiveness testing, and pulmonary assessments for clinical research studies
• Ensure pulmonary function testing is conducted in accordance with ATS/ERS standardization guidelines and sponsor requirements
• Maintain accurate calibration records, quality control logs, temperature/environmental documentation, and equipment maintenance records
• Coordinate with centralized overread vendors and sponsors regarding spirometry data quality and query resolution
• Coach study participants through respiratory testing procedures to ensure acceptable and repeatable testing results
• Support informed consent procedures, source documentation, EDC data entry, and protocol compliance activities
• Assist with adverse event documentation and study-related safety reporting
• Collaborate closely with Investigators, Clinical Research Coordinators, Sponsors, CROs, and Regulatory teams
• Support sponsor monitoring visits, audits, and inspection readiness activities
• Maintain compliance with FDA regulations, GCP guidelines, study protocols, and internal SOPs

Qualifications

• Active New York State Respiratory Therapist license (RRT/CRT) preferred OR active RPFT/CPFT credential strongly preferred
• Minimum 2+ years of pulmonary function testing or respiratory clinical experience required
• Strong understanding of ATS/ERS spirometry standardization guidelines preferred
• Prior clinical research experience preferred but not required
• Experience with EDC systems, CTMS platforms, or sponsor portals preferred
• Excellent patient interaction and coaching skills
• Strong organizational, documentation, and communication abilities
• Ability to manage multiple studies and priorities in a fast-paced research environment

• Pulmonary function laboratory experience
• Spirometry oversight for asthma or COPD clinical trials
• Sponsor or CRO-facing experience
• Respiratory clinical research experience
• Experience working with centralized spirometry overread vendors
