SyMec helps deliver mission-critical technology and engineering solutions while protecting the systems that warfighters and national security professional rely on every day.  We are seeking a skilled DevSecOps Engineer to join our secure software delivery team, embedding security throughout the software development lifecycle for mission-critical systems. This role is central to our Secure by Design philosophy — you will help shape CI/CD pipelines, harden infrastructure, and ensure compliance with federal security frameworks across classified and unclassified environments.

Basic Qualifications

• Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines in air-gapped and hybrid cloud environments (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, or on-premises).
• Integrate automated security scanning tools (SAST, DAST, SCA, container scanning) into development workflows.
• Implement and enforce compliance-as-code using frameworks such as NIST 800-53, RMF, STIGs, and FedRAMP controls.
• Manage and harden containerized workloads using Kubernetes (OpenShift preferred) and Docker in secure environments
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management using Terraform, Ansible, or Chef.
• Monitor system health, security posture, and threat indicators using SIEM platforms (Splunk, Elastic).
• Partner with system owners and ISSOs to prepare and maintain Authority to Operate (ATO) documentation.
• Respond to vulnerability findings, conduct root cause analysis, and drive remediation across development teams.
• Support zero-trust architecture implementation and least-privilege access enforcement.
• Participate in agile ceremonies and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and shared security ownership.

Desired Skills

• Hands-on experience with CI/CD tooling: GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar platforms.
• Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language: Python, Bash, Go, or PowerShell.
• Demonstrated experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes, OpenShift) and image security scanning.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible) in production environments.
• Candidate will have knowledge of basic software practices such as coding standards, unit testing and configuration management, database and System administration
• Familiarity with Kessel Run, Platform One, or DoD Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) environments.
• Self-motivated with strong teamwork and organizational skills
• Active Top Secret Security Clearance

Compensation

• Competitive Salary: $115,000 - $187,000
