Description Evaluates individual's needs in relation to employment, seeks job placements, facilitates the job development process, communicates with businesses, and instructs and/or provides supports to assigned job seekers both individually and in group settings. Provides on-site job training with community placements.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Conducts initial assessments of assigned individuals to identify their vocational skills, barriers, and preferences. 2. Participates in planning of services and monitoring of employment goals for assigned job seekers on caseload.
3. Coordinates services with ACCES-VR, OPWDD, Pre-ETS and other oversight bodies, service providers, and interested parties to monitor and ensure the highest quality of services are being provided to each individual. 4. Assists job seekers with developing resumes, completing employment applications, attending job interviews, and other hiring requirements. 5. Reviews employment ads and accesses other employment resources, such as attending job fairs and other community employment events. 6. Identifies suitable employment for individuals based on choice, needs, preferences and individual abilities. 7. Assists job seekers with securing positions, attending provided orientation for new positions, and maintaining business relationships through employer contact. 8. Coordinates situational assessments and on the job training as necessary to ensure that job seekers meet employment requirements. 9. Provides individualized mobility training to and from the individual's place of employment. Utilizes personal vehicle to attend all meetings and appointments as determined by assigned caseload. 10. Provides routine monitoring of individuals receiving extended/long-term services. 11. Teaches Workplace Readiness, Job Exploration, and Work-based Learning classes as needed. 12. Completes task analyses, placement forms, turnaround documents, consent forms, and other individual intake forms as assigned.
13. Completes incident reports, appropriate service documentation, and records as required and in a thorough and timely manner to ensure compliance. Maintains and files records as necessary. 14. Completes required ACCES-VR and OPWDD documentation within recommended time frames. 15. Completes data entry for Therap and assists with maintaining the NYESS database to ensure individual files are updated and current. Requirements 1. Education and Experience a. High School Diploma/GED b. Two (2) years' experience in a position of vocational support, teaching, or training persons with developmental disabilities. 2. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities a. Knowledge of the local job market. b. Basic knowledge of how to maintain/operate maintenance equipment. c. Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
3. Successful completion of Introductory Period Training Requirements a. Knowledge of developmental disabilities.
b. CPR/First Aid certification. c. Complete the SCIP Philosophy d. Complete required Innovations in Employment Supports trainings offered through OPWDD and NYS CASE trainings offered through New York State. 4. Be authorized as an Agency Driver by a. Holding and maintaining a valid NYS Driver's License. b. Maintaining an approved driving record according to Agency Policy and Procedure. c. Utilizing personal vehicle for work purposes, including transporting people served.
d. Providing current proof of and maintaining insurance as a driver for personal vehicle being used for work purposes.
5. Clearance under Verifications and Screenings a. OPWDD clearance for convictions of criminal offenses. b. National, State, and local criminal background checks. c. Clearance through NYS Central Child Abuse and Maltreatment Register. d. Pre-employment drug screening. e. Tuberculosis testing. f. Approval by NYS Justice Center. 6. Physical and Mental Requirements a. Seeing, hearing, walking, sitting, standing, driving, stooping, bending, carrying, stretching, and climbing stairs. b. Ability to complete manual labor such as, but not limited to, sweeping, mopping, stocking, cleaning, and mowing grass.
c. Lifting up to thirty (30) pounds.
d. Exercising independent judgment, concentrating, thinking, communicating, interacting with others, managing multiple tasks, and coping with stressful situations and deadlines. e. Staying awake and alert while on duty. WORKING CONDITIONS 1. Employees routinely work normal business hours. However, evenings and weekends may be required when the needs of the person being supported or their employer cannot be met during regular business hours.
2. Local travel required based on caseload.
3. The remaining time is used working with and providing training directly to individuals, developing job placements, and completing necessary documentation and paperwork. 4. Relief Job Coach must work a minimum of twelve (12) hours per month. Training hours do not count towards required hours.
