You will serve as the primary relationship builder, bridging the gap between technical TMC engineering teams and public/private stakeholders to improve regional mobility, safety, and infrastructure efficiency. A Typical Day Might Include Build and maintain relationships with state DOTs, transit agencies, municipal partners, and other key stakeholders to support transportation operations and growth initiatives Identify new business opportunities and lead strategic pursuits for Traffic Management Center (TMC) operations, modernization programs, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) projects Develop and present compelling proposals, funding applications, and client presentations that demonstrate technical expertise and operational value Serve as a trusted advisor to agency leadership, first responders, traffic engineers, and community partners to support successful program outcomes Foster regional collaboration by coordinating incident management efforts, data‑sharing partnerships, and cross‑jurisdictional transportation initiatives Oversee daily TMC program delivery, including traffic monitoring, incident response operations, traveler information services, and technology deployments Track budgets, resources, performance metrics, and service levels while providing regular updates and recommendations to client leadership Required Education / Licenses / Certifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, Business Management, or a related field. Education may be substituted for 15+ years in the TMC and Incident Management Leadership Role Required Qualifications 8+ years of experience in traffic operations, ITS engineering, or TMC program management Proficient in Transportation Management Center software, contract administration, and public‑sector budgeting Strong understanding of Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS) and video distribution frameworks Ideally, You Should Also Have Proven track record of winning public sector infrastructure or transportation technology contracts Exceptional communication skills with the ability to navigate complex political and bureaucratic agency environments An existing professional network within state DOTs, metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs), or municipal traffic departments is highly desirable Level Up With LJA Generous Time Off: PTO, paid holidays, and a full office closure between Christmas and New Year’s Comprehensive Benefits: Multiple plan options for health, dental, and pets, along with mental health support Family Support: Paid maternity and parental leave to help you focus on what matters most Education Support: Tuition reimbursement and in‑house courses provided by our Learning and Development team Referral Bonuses: Know great talent?
