Director - Traffic

POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Director at LJA Transportation, you will be responsible for leading and managing traffic impact studies, corridor analyses, signal timing optimization, and multimodal assessments.

A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE

Building relationships and growing business in the transportation sector Developing business through marketing to existing clients and identifying new clients Meeting with DOTs, cities, counties and local agencies for business development purposes Managing project delivery aspects such as design calculations, plan preparation, and direction of traffic designs for TDOT and local government projects Managing and maintaining project schedules and financial requirements Using advanced techniques, theory, precepts and practices in a specialized engineering field and related sciences and disciplines Interacting with clients and other consultants and having good communication skills Exercising judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria

REQUIRED EDUCATION / LICENSE / CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering is required Licensed as a Professional Engineer in Tennessee with ability to be licensed in other states PTOE Certification (preferred)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

20+ years of experience with Microstation (or Open Roads) and TDOT procedures is a must Experience with signal design, timing, intersection improvements, signing/striping, work zones, technology/ITS, traffic simulation/modeling, traffic studies, and roadway safety Experience with various traffic software packages Must be flexible to changes in work assignments on short notice and/or on a daily basis Strong communication skills to interact with clients and internal employees Ability to build strong relationships
