Join UCLA Health's Ambulatory Float Team as a Medical Assistant and support patients across 25+ specialties, including Primary Care, Pediatrics, specialty, and surgical practices. You'll provide patient care and clinical support across multiple ambulatory clinics while gaining experience with diverse patient populations and care teams throughout UCLA Health's ambulatory network. As a Per Diem employee on the Ambulatory Float Team, you must be available for a minimum of two weekdays per week, Monday through Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., and one weekend per month, Saturday and Sunday, between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. A full month's availability must be submitted at least one month in advance. Training Requirements We require completion of twoconsecutive weeks of full-time training, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PST, although the schedule may vary based on training and operational needs. Travel Requirements Travel to all UCLA Health Ambulatory Community Clinics throughout Southern California is required, and you must be physically present at assigned worksites. Assignment locations are based on operational needs and are subject to change. Although travel to all UCLA Health community practices is required, current staffing needs are primarily located in the Los Angeles region, including: Mid City Century City Downtown Los Angeles Beverly Hills Koreatown Huntington Park Whittier Salary range: $31.24 - $41.22 per hour Job Qualifications Required: A medical assistant diploma or certificate as follows: 1. Documentation of completing of a medical assistant program from a medical assistant school that is accredited by ASSCS, ACCET, CAAHEP or ABHES OR 2. Documentation of national certification for medical assistant issued by CMA, NCCT or AMT OR 3. Documentation of completing a medical assistant program and demonstrated completion of no less than 10 clock hours of training in administering injections and performing skin tests; 10 hours of training in venipuncture and skin puncture for the purpose of withdrawing blood; at least 10 of each intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intradermal injections and 10 skin tests, and/or at least 10 venipuncture and 10 skin punctures; 10 hours of training in administering medical by inhalation. Possession of active CPR certification/BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross Ability to take vital signs, venipunctures, perform injections, administer medications, and obtain drug refills Knowledge of all instruments and supplies to perform physical examinations and procedures Knowledge of symptomatology of common and/or life threatening medical problems and assessing abnormal laboratory values Ability to use a computerized patient care systems and proficiency with the Windows operating system Ability to be highly flexible, travel to multiple work sites within UCLA Health community based practices and work a variable schedule Highly desired: Possession of Phlebotomy Certification Minimum of six months of experience working as an Medical Assistant in an outpatient ambulatory clinic or a similar healthcare setting.
