Registered Nurse – Emergency Department (ED)

Location - Utica, NY

Duration - 13 Weeks

Unit: Emergency Department
Shift: 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) to provide high-quality emergency nursing care to patients across the lifespan, including newborns, pediatrics, adults, and geriatric patients .

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of recent Emergency Department experience , including some pediatric experience, and demonstrated travel nursing experience . Candidates should be comfortable working in a high-volume, high-acuity emergency department and caring for patients with medical, trauma, cardiac, neurological, and psychiatric conditions.

EPIC experience is required.

Experience with or familiarity with the following equipment is preferred:

• Rapid Infusor
• Arctic Sun

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care to patients across the lifespan.
• Perform rapid and comprehensive patient assessments.
• Prioritize patient care according to acuity and clinical condition.
• Monitor patients for changes in condition and respond rapidly to deterioration.
• Care for patients experiencing stroke, sepsis, trauma, MI, cardiac arrest, respiratory failure, and other emergency conditions.
• Provide emergency care to newborn, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and emergency treatments according to physician orders and facility protocols.
• Assist with emergency procedures and resuscitation efforts.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and other critical patient parameters.
• Support trauma and high-acuity patients.
• Utilize emergency department equipment safely and effectively.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, radiology, laboratory personnel, and other members of the healthcare team.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EPIC .
• Provide patient and family education when appropriate.
• Maintain infection-control and patient-safety standards.
• Participate in patient handoffs and ensure continuity of care.
• Float to other areas as required by department and facility needs.
• Serve in a charge capacity when qualified and assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license .
• Active New York RN license required.
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience .
• Some pediatric ED experience required .
• Travel nursing experience required.
• EPIC experience required.
• Strong emergency assessment and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to care for patients across the full age spectrum.
• Charge Nurse experience highly preferred.
• Ability and willingness to float as required.
