Job Description

This role sets up and operates welding equipment to produce high-quality steel and galvanized metal products using blueprints and fixtures. You will perform MIG welding in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, ensuring parts meet print specifications while working safely and efficiently across various materials, including galvanized steel, carbon steel, and stainless steel.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate welding equipment safely, productively, and in an ergonomically correct manner to manufacture quality parts and assemblies.
• Use blueprints and fixtures to weld products made of steel and/or galvanized metal according to specifications.
• Hand weld products using MIG welders in a safe, efficient, and high-quality manner.
• Adjust welding machines as needed to maintain consistent part quality and minimize smoke and spatter.
• Produce acceptable-quality welds with good workmanship and very few rejects, meeting or exceeding quality standards.
• Maintain an acceptable level of productivity with some supervision while meeting production goals.
• Identify and use the correct fixtures and components required to produce each product.
• Produce high-quality welds on galvanized steel, carbon steel, and stainless steel with minimal rejects.
• Complete work to print requirements, ensuring all dimensions and weld placements meet specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, part numbers, tolerances, and data critical to quality.
• Manufacture products to specifications without a fixture by using weld tables, prints, tape measures, protractors, clamps, and related tools.
• Communicate production issues professionally, seeking clarification and resolution from frontline employees and leadership.
• Follow all safety procedures, including consistent use of safety glasses, gloves, and other required protective equipment as outlined in job hazard analyses.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support production and overall plant operations.

Essential Skills

• MIG welding experience with the ability to hand weld production parts in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency welding galvanized steel, carbon steel, and stainless steel.
• Ability to set up and adjust MIG welding equipment independently for different materials and thicknesses.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, including weld symbols, part numbers, tolerances, and quality-critical data.
• Capability to manufacture parts to print specifications both with and without fixtures, using weld tables, tape measures, protractors, clamps, and related tools.
• Ability to read a tape measure in fractions and decimals accurately.
• Basic math skills to calculate and verify dimensions and measurements.
• Ability to work independently to complete work to print requirements while maintaining quality and productivity standards.
• Previous manufacturing experience (preferred).
• Comfort working with stainless steel and exposure to stainless steel welding processes.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds with minimal rejects.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment consistently.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in a production or manufacturing environment using MIG welding.
• Familiarity with fabrication processes and working from blueprints in a high-volume setting.
• Comfort welding galvanized steel and working in areas with increased fumes and sparks, with proper safety measures in place.
• Experience welding stainless steel and understanding its specific handling and welding characteristics.
• Strong communication skills to report issues, ask questions, and collaborate with team members and leadership.
• Ability to adapt to different materials and setups, including galvanized steel, carbon steel, and stainless steel.
• Willingness to perform various production-related tasks as assigned to support overall operations.

Work Environment

This role is based in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing facility that can be loud and involves working around active production equipment. You will work with MIG welding equipment on galvanized steel, carbon steel, and stainless steel, including areas where welding galvanized steel produces noticeable fumes and sparks, with appropriate ventilation and protective equipment provided. The environment includes shift-based work with a pay differential for second and third shifts, and requires consistent use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and gloves as part of standard safety practices.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Olyphant, PA.

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Olyphant,PA.
