Job Description

This role focuses on high-output MIG welding in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, producing steel components for trailers with precision and consistency. You will prepare materials, interpret blueprints, and perform quality checks to ensure structurally sound welds that meet production standards and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy-duty MIG welding equipment to fuse steel components for trailers quickly, accurately, and in line with production quotas.
• Prepare materials by measuring, cutting, and fitting base metal pieces prior to the welding process.
• Read and interpret engineering designs, blueprints, and welding symbols to ensure trailers and components are built to specification.
• Perform high-quality welds on galvanized steel, carbon steel, and stainless steel, maintaining consistent weld quality and appearance.
• Use tape measures and other measuring tools to take precise measurements in fractions and decimals and verify dimensions before welding.
• Inspect welded pieces for structural integrity, proper penetration, and alignment to prevent warping and other defects.
• Conduct quality and safety checks on finished work, ensuring all parts meet tolerance and critical-to-quality requirements outlined on blueprints.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow safety practices to reduce hazards and support a safe production environment.
• Pre-inspect welding gear, tools, and equipment before each shift to ensure they operate effectively and safely.
• Use grinding tools and other finishing equipment to clean, smooth, and finish welds as required.
• Work independently to complete assigned tasks to print requirements while coordinating with team members to meet production goals.

Work Environment

The role is based in a fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment focused on meeting production quotas. You will work with heavy-duty MIG welding equipment, grinding tools, and standard measuring instruments such as tape measures. The facility emphasizes consistent hours and steady work, and most welding tools and equipment are provided, with the exception of helmets, which may need to be supplied by the welder. The environment is physically demanding, with some workers noting strenuous daily expectations, and experiences with management may vary by location. The culture centers on production efficiency, teamwork, and maintaining a safe, organized workspace.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carbondale, PA.

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Carbondale,PA.
