Position Summary: The Yard Hostler Public Road Class A CDL Driver is responsible for the safe and timely movement of trailers and containers within the facility and on public roads moving from one facility to another. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the flow of goods and supporting our logistics operations. Your role on the team: Safely maneuver trailers and containers to and from loading docks, storage areas, and staging areas within the yard and on public roads. Conduct thorough inspections of yard trucks and trailers to ensure they are in safe working condition before and after operation. Ensure that trailers are properly chocked, locked, and secured before moving them. Maintain accurate records of trailer movements, yard inventory, and any maintenance or safety issues encountered. Coordinate trailer movements with warehouse personnel, dispatchers, and other team members to ensure smooth operations. Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and reporting any incidents or hazards. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations for operating commercial vehicles on public roads. Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the yard and work areas and interior of the yard truck. Other Duties: As required and assigned Supports GEODIS’pr ogramsfor Safety, Health, Environment, Quality , Ethics, Compliance, CSR and Sustainability What you need: Must be 21 years of age or older Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Class A CDL Driver. Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations and compliance requirements. Must have successfully completed a driver’s road test and have been issued a certificate of driver’s road test or possess a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL). Must not be disqualified to drive a commercial motor vehicle. Must have a valid operator’s license for the type of vehicle which they are assigned to drive. Must be physically qualified to drive a commercial motor vehicle. In accordance with 49 CFR Part 391.41 Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manual Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
