Duties Responsibilities Provide emergency department clinical nursing care to patients of any age group. Perform triage, considering both physical and psychosocial elements. Assess incoming patients and prioritize care based on need, staffing, and patient acuity. Provide nursing care to patients presenting for urgent or emergent care using knowledge of professional nursing theories, principles, and procedures. Observe, monitor and assess patients' conditions. Teach, onboard and mentor professional and paraprofessional nursing staff. Interview and take medical histories to acquire information to assess physical and mental status of patients. Teach patients and significant others how to manage their illness or injury. Develop, implement, coordinate, and evaluate facility, department, or unit-based programs. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience includes paid and unpaid work, volunteer service, and similar programs. Your resume must clearly describe relevant experience; transcripts may be required. Basic Requirements for Nurse Education: A graduate or higher level degree in nursing from an accredited program. The program must be accredited by an appropriate body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Transcripts may be required. Licensure: A current, active, full, and unrestricted license as a professional nurse in the United States; and you must have passed the NCLEX. Foreign Degree: Foreign nursing graduates must have CGFNS certification per program requirements. A copy of the CGFNS Certificate is required. Exemption: Current federal employees occupying the 0610 series and continuously employed since 9/27/2017 or before may be exempt with documentation. Requirements Education/Experience: A diploma, associate degree, or bachelor’s degree in Nursing and at least one full year of professional nursing experience (GS-9 level or above) including ambulatory care, medication administration, and patient education.
