This commitment helps us deliver an exceptional experience not only to our patients, but also to every member of our team.GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for assisting physicians with patient care, including casting, splinting, bracing, and DME application. Perform delegated technical visits, gather patient information, educate patients on care plans, and document all care in the EMR timely. Manage clinic inventory, supplies, and DME processes while maintaining OSHA compliance, supporting clinic operations, and providing backup staffing as needed.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSCollaborate with physicians and care teams to support orthopedic injury management, bracing solutions, and safe return-to-activity planning.Serve as primary DME coordinator, overseeing ordering, fitting, dispensing, documentation, and comprehensive support of braces and orthopedic devices, including product selection, patient education, troubleshooting, and coordination of repairs or replacements.Perform casting, splinting, brace fitting, and DME application, ensuring proper fit, alignment, comfort, and patient safety; conduct tech-only visits including cast application/removal, adjustments, and follow-up care focused on functional outcomes.Verify insurance benefits, obtain prior authorizations, and ensure adherence to Medicare, Medicaid, and regulatory standards, including accurate documentation, coding, billing support, and audit readiness.Maintain accurate and timely EMR documentation for all patient care, procedures, and DME-related activities.Manage inventory of braces, casting materials, and clinical supplies, serving as super user for inventory systems while ensuring proper stock levels, tracking, ordering, cost control, and overall clinic readiness.Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment, including casting areas, storage, and rehabilitation spaces; troubleshoot bracing and equipment issues to ensure optimal function and patient comfort.Educate patients on device use, care instructions, activity restrictions, and precautions, and instruct in home exercise programs to support rehabilitation and recovery.Support clinic workflow and patient throughput by assisting with rooming, procedures, and cross-covering MA and Orthopedic Tech responsibilities as needed.Act as a clinical resource for providers and staff regarding bracing, casting techniques, DME processes, and rehabilitation considerations.Assist with onboarding and training of staff on DME processes, casting/splinting techniques, and clinic protocols.Build strong working relationships with providers, staff, and vendors to ensure efficient product utilization and high-quality patient care.Assist with process improvement initiatives related to DME, inventory management, and clinic efficiency.Maintain OSHA compliance, including infection control, equipment sterilization (autoclave), and emergency equipment checks.Manage medications and samples in accordance with clinic policies and regulatory guidelines.Uphold HIPAA compliance and maintain strict patient confidentiality.Serve as a liaison between clinic staff, leadership, and vendors to address product needs, workflow concerns, and patient care issues.Perform all other duties as assigned to support clinic operations and patient care.BENEFITS:Medical Insurance with VIP Health Advocate ServiceHealth Savings Account (HSA) with employer contributionFlexible Spending Account (FSA)Dental CoverageVision Coverage7-8 Paid Holidays each year12 PTO Days to start, with increases based on tenure (up to 22 days)401(k) with Safe Harbor contribution plus Profit Sharing (once eligible)Life InsuranceShort & Long-Term DisabilityAdditional Supplemental PlansMileage Reimbursement + Travel Time – (for eligible positions)Colleague Recognition ProgramWell-being support: Employee Assistance ProgramTo learn more, visit: degree from an accredited Athletic Training program (required)Master’s degree (preferred)EXPERIENCE:Minimum 2–5 years of clinical experience in orthopedics or sports medicine (preferred)Demonstrated expertise in casting, splinting, and orthopedic procedures, DME fitting and inventory management, clinical workflow optimizationExperience in a physician extender or advanced clinical support role (strongly preferred for OPE-C candidates)LICENSURE & CERTIFICATION:Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) – Board of Certification (required)Texas State Athletic Training Licensure (LAT) (required)Orthopedic Technician Certification (OTC) or Orthopedic Physician Extender (OPE-C) (preferred)SPECIAL SKILLS:Advanced understanding of musculoskeletal injury evaluation and management, rehabilitation principles and return-to-function protocols, orthopedic procedures and clinical workflowsStrong knowledge of healthcare compliance, including OSHA and DME regulationsExceptional communication and interpersonal skills with physicians, staff, and patientsProficiency in EMR systems and clinical documentationDemonstrated leadership, initiative, and decision-making capabilityAbility to maintain strict confidentiality (HIPAA compliance)PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and assisting patientsAbility to lift 50 lbs. and assist patients up to 300 lbs.Full manual dexterity required for casting, splinting, and clinical proceduresExposure to bodily fluids and clinical hazardsAdequate vision, hearing, and coordination for patient care tasksENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS:Clinic settingPotential traveling between clinic locations.Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, radiation and bodily fluids. #J-18808-Ljbffr Texas Orthopedics, a Division of OrthoLonestar
