Empower a student's educational journey with your expertise as a Specialist for Deaf and Hard of Hearing learners. This contract opportunity is tailored for a qualified professional passionate about making a tangible difference. You'll provide focused, virtual support to a high school student, ensuring their unique learning needs are met effectively throughout the 2026-2027 school year.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher
- Demonstrated experience working with high school-aged students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Proficiency in implementing individualized support plans and educational modifications
- Familiarity with virtual service delivery and related technologies
- Strong communication skills, both with students and multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to collaborate with educators, families, and service providers to optimize learning
- Compassionate approach and commitment to fostering student success and independence
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct virtual sessions for approximately 10 hours per week, offering direct instruction and support
- Adapt curriculum materials and teaching strategies to suit the student’s needs
- Monitor and document progress, modifying approaches as necessary
- Maintain open, ongoing communication with school staff and the student's family
- Serve as an advocate, ensuring the student receives the services and accommodations outlined in their educational plan
- Provide expertise and consultation on best practices in DHH education within the virtual school setting
