Role Overview As Senior Engineering Manager for the Perception engineering team at Labelbox, you will lead a team that builds easy-to-use and efficient tools that support the development of cutting-edge AI systems like those for generative AI and computer vision. In this role, you will manage the team’s daily operations, including sprint planning, daily standups, and one-on-one meetings , ensuring smooth execution and continuous progress. You will also contribute technical expertise in full-stack development , guiding the team in building robust and efficient systems. Collaboration is key—you will work closely with other engineering teams to align on architecture, share best practices, and drive cross-functional initiatives. This role requires a strong foundation in full-stack frameworks . Your Impact Drive engineering excellence by providing technical leadership and guidance, ensuring the team delivers high-quality, scalable, and reliable systems. Foster a high-performing team by recruiting top talent, mentoring engineers, and supporting career growth through skill development and progression plans. What You Bring Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (Advanced degree preferred). Proven technical leadership with 4+ years of experience in full-stack development and 2+ years managing highly technical engineering teams. Strong software design and architecture skills, with experience in API development, schema design, etc. Expertise in programming languages such as TypeScript and Python, with a disciplined approach to software development focused on testing and quality. Hands-on experience with front-end frameworks like React. Project management expertise, including experience with agile methodologies and tools like Jira, demonstrating ownership of end-to-end project delivery. Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, enabling effective teamwork across engineering, product, and design teams. Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments, with a proactive, problem-solving mindset and a willingness to dive deep to drive results. Bonus: Experience with leveraging large language models (e.g., GPT-4, Gemini) for product development, and working with AI service APIs (e.g., text-to-speech, speech-to-text, translation, transcription). The expected annual base salary range for United States-based candidates is below. This range is not inclusive of any potential equity packages or additional benefits.
