Job Title: Warehouse Shipping and Receiving Specialist

Job Description

This role oversees the receiving, storage, and movement of raw materials and scrap within a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing warehouse. You will manage inbound and outbound containers, maintain accurate inventory records, operate various material-handling equipment, and support shipping operations while ensuring a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.

Responsibilities

• Receive raw material containers from domestic and international subsidiaries, verify container numbers against purchase orders, unload containers, sign off on driver paperwork, and scan products using RF scanners.
• Break down pallets and scan materials into appropriate warehouse locations to ensure accurate system tracking and inventory visibility.
• Receive raw materials from local suppliers, record items and quantities on receiving logs, and provide timely information to the Materials and Production Planning leadership.
• Operate forklifts, cherry pickers, stackers, and narrow aisle forklifts to safely retrieve, move, stage, and load materials throughout the facility.
• Unload, log, and put away materials from containers into designated storage areas, maintaining clear labeling and organization.
• Schedule and load empty containers with skids and end pieces for return shipments overseas, and complete all related shipping paperwork accurately.
• Keep jumbos, leaders, cores, and other raw materials stocked in supermarket areas, racking locations, and visual management stations to support continuous production.
• Ensure all inventory transfers are accurately recorded and kept up to date, including transfers between R20 to R10 and R10 to P10 locations.
• Conduct monthly inventory counts of raw materials and maintain high inventory accuracy between cycle counts.
• Perform weekly non-inventory counts to support ongoing inventory control and reporting.
• Complete year-end inventory counts for all receiving warehouses in accordance with company procedures.
• Secure bales compacted in the baler and coordinate the shipment of scrap materials, ensuring proper documentation and safe handling.
• Transport jumbos unloaded at one site to another designated location using a company-provided box truck, following all safety and traffic regulations.
• Refuel the company box truck as needed and ensure the vehicle remains in good operating condition.
• Pass and maintain eligibility for a DOT physical as required for operating the company box truck.
• Schedule container deliveries for imported materials and coordinate dock times to support efficient receiving operations.
• Monitor all forklift batteries and complete the daily OSHA-required battery and equipment safety checklist.
• Maintain a clean, neat, and organized warehouse by following 5S guidelines, including regular housekeeping and organization of storage areas.
• Support cross-training efforts by helping ensure team members can cover key functions in the Shipping Department when needed.
• Collaborate with team members and leadership to improve processes, resolve issues, and maintain a safe and efficient workflow.
• Perform other related tasks as assigned by the company to support overall warehouse, shipping, and receiving operations.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3 to 6 years of experience in warehouse, shipping and receiving, or material handling roles.
• Proficiency in inventory management and inventory control processes.
• Hands-on experience with shipping and receiving operations, including documentation and verification of incoming and outgoing materials.
• Ability to operate forklifts, cherry pickers, stackers, and narrow aisle forklifts safely and efficiently.
• Experience using RF scanners for product identification and location tracking.
• Familiarity with shipping and freight management software and basic data entry for warehouse systems.
• Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail to ensure accuracy in counts, logs, and transfers.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with internal teams and external drivers.
• Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment and delegate when appropriate.
• Capability to pass a DOT physical as required for operating company vehicles.
• Commitment to safety practices, including completing OSHA-required equipment checklists and following 5S standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience performing monthly, weekly, and year-end inventory counts in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
• Experience in material handling for raw materials, including jumbos, cores, leaders, and similar components.
• Experience coordinating international or overseas shipments, including loading containers and completing export paperwork.
• Familiarity with visual management systems and supermarket-style material stocking.
• Comfort working with scrap handling processes, including baling and shipping scrap materials.
• Ability to support cross-training initiatives and assist teammates in learning shipping and receiving functions.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset to enhance warehouse efficiency and accuracy.

Work Environment

This role is based in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing facility designed to provide a comfortable work setting throughout the year. The warehouse is organized and maintained using 5S principles, emphasizing cleanliness, order, and safety. You will regularly use material-handling equipment such as forklifts, cherry pickers, stackers, and narrow aisle forklifts, as well as RF scanners and shipping and freight management software. Work involves handling raw materials, pallets, containers, and scrap bales, along with occasional operation of a company box truck for short-distance material transfers. The dress code includes steel toe boots, blue jeans and/or uniform-style pants without holes, and a solid-colored shirt; shorts are also permitted within these guidelines. The environment supports teamwork and cross-training, with a focus on safety, organization, and efficient warehouse operations.

This is a Contract position based out of Hebron, KY.

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
