Server Administrator

The Server Administrator is responsible for maintaining, securing, and supporting the organization's server infrastructure to ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of business-critical systems. This role manages Windows server environments, virtualization platforms, backups, and core infrastructure services. Experience with Linux systems is a plus but not required. Essential Responsibilities Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Server operating systems and related infrastructure. Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and other core enterprise services. Manage virtual environments using VMware vSphere. Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability to ensure optimal operations. Implement server patching, security updates, and vulnerability remediation. Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes. Troubleshoot server, storage, operating system, and infrastructure issues. Maintain system documentation, standards, and operational procedures. Collaborate with network, security, application, and support teams on projects and operational initiatives. Participate in on-call support and after-hours maintenance activities as required. Participates in a 24 x 7 on call rotation. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered. Three or more years of experience administering enterprise Windows Server environments. Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and virtualization technologies. Knowledge of server hardware, storage systems, networking fundamentals, and backup solutions. Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences. Preferred Qualifications Experience administering Linux operating systems such as Red Hat, Rocky Linux, Ubuntu, or SUSE. Experience with Microsoft Azure and/or Amazon Web Services (AWS). Knowledge of PowerShell, Bash, or other automation and scripting tools. Relevant industry certifications such as Microsoft, VMware, Red Hat, or CompTIA Server+.
