A Typical Day For a Respiratory Therapist May Include Assessing patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary conditions, evaluating clinical status, and recommending appropriate therapeutic interventions Administering respiratory therapies, including oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, airway clearance techniques, and mechanical ventilation management Monitoring patient response to treatment, recognizing changes in clinical condition, and communicating findings promptly to physicians and the care team Performing diagnostic procedures such as arterial blood gas collection, pulmonary function testing, and bedside respiratory assessments as appropriate Educating patients and families on respiratory conditions, treatment plans, equipment use, and strategies to support ongoing respiratory health Accurately documenting assessments, treatments, and patient responses within the electronic medical record to promote continuity of care Collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans Maintaining respiratory equipment, ensuring proper operation, and adhering to infection prevention and patient safety standards Pursuing continued professional growth through continuing education, specialty certifications, and organizational resources that support long-term career development This Role Might Be For You If Clear, compassionate communication defines how you interact with patients, families, and colleagues Strong clinical judgment helps you respond confidently in both routine and critical care situations You thrive in a fast-paced environment where teamwork and adaptability are essential Providing evidence-based respiratory care is central to your professional practice Attention to detail and patient safety guide your daily work Continuous learning and professional growth are important to you Collaborative team culture is something you actively help strengthen To be considered for this Respiratory Therapist opportunity, you are passionate about delivering high-quality respiratory care while providing reassurance and support to patients and families during critical moments. Graduate of an approved school of Respiratory Care with a minimum of a BS, degree in Respiratory Care (or equivalent) MS, preferred. Graduate of AMA approved Respiratory Therapy program required. You hold an active New Jersey Respiratory Therapist License (RRT). Current American Heart Association BLS certification. Previous experience in an acute care hospital setting and proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems are preferred.
