Description

Position Purpose


The part-time Staff Accountant provides support for the Director of Finance & Controller in the day-to-day operations of the Finance department to help ensure the financial health, integrity, and sustainability to support the missions of both Allied Solutions Center for the Performing Arts and the Great American Songbook Foundation.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Perform month-end closing reconciliations and entries
• Assist with preparation of month end financial reports
• Reconcile box office ticketing system and development tracking software with general ledger
• Maintain fixed asset and depreciation tracking
• Reconcile resident company and rental event ticket sales and prepare performance settlements
• Assist in preparation for year-end audit including reconciliations, adjusting entries, and providing information requested by auditors
• Assist with preparation of federal 990 informational tax return and state informational returns
• Assist with preparation of annual Indiana property tax returns and business entity reports
• Assist with annual budget preparation
• Act as backup for accounts payable and payroll processing
• Assist with various projects and tasks as needed
• Adhere to all organizational processes and procedures and meet assigned deadlines without prompting

• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for Not-for-Profit Organizations
• Ability to effectively use accounting software (QuickBooks and Sage Intacct), MS Office Suite, and other software applications necessary to perform essential job functions and support other team members
• Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally
• Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships
• Ability to work independently and collaborate as part of a team
• Ability to work in an organized manner and use time efficiently
• Ability to work under pressure of deadlines
• Excellent attention to detail

Requirements

Education and Experience


To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience.

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or another related field
• Minimum 4 years' experience in not-for-profit accounting including general ledger reconciliation and financial statement preparation
• Highly proficient and agile with technology
• Experience using Tessitura and/or Paylocity a plus

Supervisory Responsibility


This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment


This position operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, etc.

• Strong sensory skills, such as good eyesight, hearing and dexterity

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work


This is a part-time, non-exempt position eligible for many benefits including participation in the 401k plan and Employee Assistance Program as well as the option to utilzie paid volunteer hours. Schedule is 20 hours per week, hybrid remote and in office 1-2 days per week, scheduled around department needs.
