Join a collaborative engineering community where your ideas and embedded software expertise will help advance products used around the world!As our new Sr. Staff Software Engineer you will:Build embedded software solutions for plasma cutting systems, including firmware for embedded subsystems and software tools for supporting development and testPerform all aspects of software development. This includes, but is not limited to, requirements and specifications, design and development, coding and debugging, testing, and integration of embedded devices and systemsWrite device drivers for various sensors and other small peripheralsDevelop features for RTOS-based real-time control systemsSupport hardware/software integration and software validationWork and interface with cross-functional design teamsAnalyze and enhance efficiency, stability, and scalability of system resourcesDevelop standardized industrial communication interfaces that connect plasma systems with automation platformsEvaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and processesBuild software solutions by using industry standards and best practicesWho you are and the experience you will bring:BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field, plus 10–12 years of relevant experience.Proficiency with C/C++Understanding of object-oriented developmentStrong understanding of software engineering principles and configuration management processes, including defect and version tracking tools such as Git, GitHub, and Atlassian productsUnderstanding of real-time software concerns like multi-threading and concurrencyKnowledge and understanding of network protocols, including TCP and UDPExperience with RTOS-based microcontrollersExcellent written and oral communication skillsPreferred experience that differentiates you:Prior work experience in ARM embedded software developmentProficiency with C# and scripting languages like Python and PowerShellExperience interfacing with peripherals over UART, SPI and USBKnowledge of industrial protocols (such as EtherCAT, CAN, Ethernet/IP) and Wi-Fi communications protocolsAbility to read schematics and data sheets for electrical componentsComfortable with instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzer, etc.Unit testing experience using Google testExperience with Test Automation Location: Hanover, New Hampshire (Relocation assistance available)Travel: MinimalWhy join Hypertherm?Collaborative, 100% employee-owned culture Profit-Sharing and Employee Stock Ownership (ESOP) Five days/year paid Community Service TimeStrong commitment to Environmental StewardshipStable, growing organization with a no-layoff philosophySponsorship of new applicants for employment authorization, or any other immigration-related support, is not available for this position at this time.#LI-MJ1Hypertherm Associates is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer, and we welcome all applications.
