Adjunct English Instructor

Essex County College – Human Resources Department Position details: Essex County College is seeking a qualified individual to provide instruction and student advisement for day, evening, and weekend courses offered at various campus sites. Compensation: This position offers a starting hourly rate of $15.92–$20.00. Essex County College does not provide visa sponsorship. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of application and throughout employment. Supervisory role: Community, Continuing Education, and the Workforce Development Director of On-Campus Continuing Education Adjuncts to teach various subjects – Algebra, Geometry, STEM and ELA for middle school students (grades 6–8). Duties and Responsibilities Commit to teaching during after-school program hours. Explain subject matter clearly; help students develop reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. Research current STEM content and instructional methods appropriate for varied learning styles. Use technology to supplement instruction and engage students. Assist with preparing culminating activities for the program’s end. Establish clear rules and expectations to maintain a positive learning environment. Communicate with other teachers, administrators, and parents/guardians to support student success. Attend meetings and workshops as required. Evaluate student progress regularly and provide feedback to students and parents; prepare progress and ancillary reports as required. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education or related area. Teaching Certification in ELA, Reading, Mathematics and/or Science; Mathematics Certification 1900; English Certification 1106. Teaching experience in a K-12 classroom setting. Experience designing/creating lesson plans. Education and Certifications Minimum Education Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree. Licenses and Certifications (including CPR, first aid, driver’s license, etc.) Preferred Qualifications To be determined or based on candidate qualifications as applicable.
