MRI Technologist-Atlantic Health Chilton Medical Center-Per Diem

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsible for creating cross‑sectional images of the patient's body for diagnostic purposes, using magnetic resonance imaging equipment. Principal Accountabilities Position patient on examining table and place specified coil (e.g., head coil or knee coil) close to area of interest, following protocols requested by the radiologist. Demonstrate use of microphone that allows patient and technologist to communicate during examination. Enter data such as patient history, anatomical area to be scanned, orientation specified, and position of entry into the aperture of the MRI equipment (head or feet first) into the computer. Key commands to specify scan sequences and adjust transmitters and receivers into the computer. Observe patient through the control room window and on closed‑circuit TV screen to monitor patient safety and comfort. View images of areas being scanned on a video display screen to ensure quality of pictures. Key in data on the camera keyboard to photograph images. Alert staff entering the magnet room to the danger of wearing or carrying metal around the magnet. Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Associate's degree in radiology and/or graduate of an accredited radiology program. State RT license for ARRT candidates through the NJDEP, or MR certification through ARMRIT. BLS certification.
