CDL-A Logistics Driver: Heavy-Haul & Equipment Transport

Job Summary Carter Machinery, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C., is hiring a Logistics Driver in Baltimore, Maryland. The Logistics Driver is responsible for the safe, efficient transportation of industrial/commercial parts and construction equipment to customer locations and Carter Machinery branches over established routes. Sign‑On Bonus We are offering up to a $10,000 sign‑on bonus for new hires. Bonuses are paid in two equal installments at 90 days and 180 days of employment. Requirements Minimum of two years of CDL driving experience, including heavy‑haul and tractor/low‑boy driving. Valid CDL A licensure. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Thorough knowledge of DOT and company safety standards and regulations. Excellent driving record. Capability to operate a 5 or 6 axle configuration truck. Ability to perform inspections to ensure the truck is in good working order. Capability to secure cargo using chains and/or binders in compliance with local, state and federal regulations. Mechanical aptitude with ability to perform basic truck maintenance tasks. Professional interaction with customers and all levels of personnel within the organization. Ability to understand and explain problems related to deliveries. Performance in situations requiring speed and tight deadlines. Knowledge of rental, construction, and generator equipment and ability to instruct proper equipment operation. Excellent customer service skills. Effective communication skills. Ability to operate a forklift. Willingness to work additional hours as required by job and customer demand. Promotion of a positive customer experience. Physical Requirements The Logistics Driver must meet physical requirements including frequently sitting for extended periods, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear. The driver must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally move and/or lift up to 75 pounds. Visual requirements include close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Compensation Starting Compensation Range: $24.89 - $35.95 (actual base pay may vary).
