The Opportunity

We're looking for a commercially minded and operationally focused Finance Director, Fabrication Operations to serve as the finance lead and strategic business partner for our North American fabrication network.

Partnering directly with the Head of Fabrication, you will help build the financial and operational foundation for a growing multi-site production organization. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of finance and operations, can connect financial performance to what is happening on the production floor, and enjoys transforming data into actionable business decisions.

You will play a critical role in improving profitability, building reporting and forecasting capabilities, optimizing capacity utilization, and supporting the integration and standardization of fabrication operations across the network.

What You'll Do

Financial Performance & Cost Management

• Build and maintain consistent individual and consolidated P&Ls across four fabrication facilities, along with separate P&Ls for storage, rental inventory, and fleet operations.
• Conduct a comprehensive assessment of facility cost structures, labor models, capacity utilization, and current reporting practices.
• Develop budgeting, forecasting, and scenario-planning models covering labor, overtime, freelance resources, subcontracting, storage, fleet, and facility expenses.
• Establish project profitability reviews to compare estimated versus actual margins and create feedback loops that improve future estimating and pricing decisions.
• Analyze labor productivity, utilization, overhead absorption, and operational drivers of profitability.
• Partner with operational leaders to identify opportunities to improve margins, reduce waste, optimize labor deployment, and increase financial discipline.
• Lead monthly performance reviews with fabrication leadership teams.

Capacity Planning & Network Optimization

• Map capacity against demand across the fabrication network and develop reporting that supports more effective planning and resource allocation.
• Improve pipeline visibility to provide a reliable view of future fabrication demand and workload requirements.
• Separate fabrication, non-fabrication, and insourced work streams to support accurate capacity planning and decision-making.
• Support long-term network planning, including facility footprint decisions, capability investments, and capital expenditure evaluations.
• Build financial models that support insource versus outsource decisions, staffing strategies, overtime management, and facility investments.
• Support vendor consolidation initiatives, rebate tracking, and procurement savings opportunities.

Reporting, KPIs & Integration

• Develop and implement a standardized KPI framework across all fabrication locations, including utilization, throughput, overtime, on-time delivery, rework, and profitability metrics.
• Launch and maintain executive dashboards covering network performance, financial performance, pipeline, capacity utilization, storage, rental inventory, and fleet operations.
• Establish standardized reporting and performance management processes across all locations.
• Support the integration of Jack Morton and Impact XM fabrication operations through common definitions, metrics, and processes for job costing, work orders, change orders, and markup structures.
• Support D365 adoption and help reduce reliance on manual processes and offline workarounds.
• Partner across Fabrication, Finance, Commercial, Estimating, Creative, Account, and Project Management teams to improve planning, visibility, profitability, and operational execution.

What We're Looking For

• 8-12+ years of progressive finance experience, including significant experience supporting manufacturing, fabrication, production, logistics, or other operational environments.
• Strong understanding of cost accounting, job costing, labor utilization, overhead allocation, margin analysis, and operational performance management.
• Experience supporting multiple facilities, locations, or operating units.
• Demonstrated ability to build financial models, forecasting processes, dashboards, and KPI frameworks from the ground up.
• Experience driving finance process improvements, operational standardization, and systems adoption within growing or transforming organizations.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex financial information into actionable operational recommendations.
• Experience evaluating capital investments and developing ROI-based business cases.
• Strong business partnering and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence leaders across functions.
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, project-based environments where priorities can shift quickly.
• Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills; experience with ERP systems and business intelligence tools preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. CPA, CMA, or MBA is a plus.

What Success Looks Like

Within your first six months, you will have:

• Assessed the financial and operational performance of all fabrication facilities and support operations.
• Established consistent facility, storage, rental, and fleet P&Ls.
• Implemented a standardized KPI and reporting framework across the network.
• Launched fabrication performance dashboards that provide clear visibility into profitability, utilization, capacity, and demand.
• Built forecasting and scenario-planning tools that support operational decision-making.
• Established a regular performance review cadence with facility leaders.
• Improved visibility into project profitability and manufacturing economics.
• Helped advance the integration and standardization of production operations across Jack Morton.

Success in this role means creating financial visibility where it does not exist today, improving profitability and operational performance, establishing disciplined forecasting and reporting processes, and helping build a scalable fabrication organization capable of supporting future growth.
