Senior Safety Manager

Chattanooga TN 2605 East 39th Street Chattanooga, TN 37407, USA Leeco Steel is a leading supplier of carbon, HSLA and alloy steels from the premier mills worldwide. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Senior Safety Manager will oversee safety‑related tasks at all of Leeco Steel's facilities across North America. This role works closely with many teams to ensure compliance, promote a strong safety culture and drive risk reduction initiatives. This position requires 30‑50% travel and regular in‑person attendance at a Leeco office or facility when not traveling. Key Responsibilities: Lead the implementation and ongoing improvement of EHS programs, policies and procedures across all Leeco Steel locations Conduct and support EHS audits, inspections and compliance evaluations Partner with teams to identify hazards, assess risk and implement effective safety controls Lead incident investigations (including near misses) and root cause analysis; ensure corrective actions are implemented and sustained Support regulatory compliance efforts, including OSHA and environmental requirements, reporting, and documentation Maintain required EHS documentation and records in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations Track, analyze, and report safety performance metrics; support development of KPIs and continuous improvement initiatives Collaborate with HR and leadership on workers’ compensation claims, injury management, and return‑to‑work programs Support and deliver safety training programs for employees at all levels Promote a strong safety culture by engaging employees and reinforcing safe work practices Assist with emergency preparedness, drills, and compliance activities across facilities Partner with internal stakeholders and external agencies as needed to support compliance and safety initiatives Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and applicable safety and environmental regulations Experience supporting EHS programs within a manufacturing environment Proven ability to conduct audits, investigations, and risk assessments Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills Excellent organizational and time management abilities Effective communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment Education, Experience & Certifications Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety or related field required Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, CHMM or similar preferred OSHA 30‑hour certification required; OSHA 500 and other advanced certifications are a plus First Aid/CPR certification (or ability to obtain) preferred 5‑8+ years of experience in environmental health and safety, preferably in manufacturing Experience with workers’ compensation processes and injury management Experience supporting regulatory audits, reporting and compliance activities Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
