Front of House Manager

Front of House Manager | Old World Pizzeria

Old World Pizzeria is a 20-inch, New York-style counter-service pizzeria in downtown Birmingham. We are looking for a Front of House Manager who loves people, moves fast, and takes full ownership of the guest experience from the moment someone walks in to the moment they leave.

You will lead the front of the house: the counter, the slice case, the dining room, catering, and the FOH team. You are not a full-time cashier, but you lead from the floor and jump in wherever you are needed, including the register and the oven during a rush.

What You Will Do

• Oversee the front counter and register, and hop on when the line needs it
• Manage the slice case: stocked, fresh, and looking great at all times
• Lead the FOH team in real time: set priorities, direct staff, and adjust on the fly during rushes
• Coordinate catering orders from first call to pickup or delivery, working with the kitchen on timing and quality
• Keep team morale and motivation high; create a fun, positive, accountable culture
• Hire, train, and coach FOH staff on our hospitality standards
• Maintain proper staffing levels, identify scheduling needs, and build FOH schedules
• Greet guests warmly and build real rapport with regulars
• Resolve guest issues on the spot with a calm, solutions-first attitude
• Support the kitchen during rushes, including working the oven when needed
• Order and track FOH supplies and keep the dining room, counter, and FOH areas clean and guest-ready
• Handle opening and closing, cash handling, and shift reconciliation
• Report shift results and issues to ownership

What We Are Looking For

• 2+ years in customer-facing food service or hospitality, including supervisory or management experience
• Training from a hospitality-focused brand (Zingerman’s, Chick-fil-A, Shake Shack, or similar) is a strong plus
• Catering coordination experience is a plus
• Friendly, upbeat, and genuinely energized by people
• A natural motivator who brings energy to the team
• Calm under pressure and able to lead a team through a rush
• Organized, with strong scheduling and follow-through skills
• Strong communicator who takes initiative without being asked
• Reliable, punctual, and team-first
• Comfortable on your feet for a full shift and able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Available evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Pizza or oven experience is a plus, not required
