Job Details Job Location: Augusta, ME 04332-5659 Position Type: Full Time Salary Range: $20.00 - $24.00 Hourly Job Category: Accounting Are you someone who enjoys solving puzzles, working with numbers, and making sure the details are right Maine State Credit Union is looking for a detail-oriented, analytical, and motivated Accounting Specialist I to join our Accounting team. If you enjoy working with numbers, solving discrepancies, and ensuring financial accuracy, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while expanding your knowledge across a variety of accounting functions. In this role, you'll be a key player in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our financial records. Your work will have a direct impact on our daily operations and financial success. Responsibilities include: Reconciling daily and monthly general ledger accounts Researching and resolving outstanding accounting items Preparing and maintaining supporting documentation Assisting with accounts payable processes and employee expense reporting Supporting month-end activities and financial reporting Collaborating with departments across the organization to resolve transaction issues Cross-training in other accounting functions and providing backup support as needed We're seeking candidates who have both a passion for accounting and a strong foundation in accounting principles. Required Qualifications Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Strong understanding of accounting and bookkeeping fundamentals Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy Strong organizational and time-management abilities Effective communication and interpersonal skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally Preferred Qualifications 1-3 years of accounting, bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or related experience Experience reconciling accounts and researching discrepancies Familiarity with general ledger activity and financial reporting processes The pay range for this position is $20/hr-24/hr based on experience.
