Job Summary and Qualifications

In this role, you will operate independently while adhering to the policies, practices, and procedures established by professional nursing standards and approved by the hospital’s Nursing Division.

Qualifications Needed:

EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED:

• At least an Associate's degree, diploma, or BSN is required.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

• A current RN license in Texas or a compact state is mandatory. BCLS certification is also required.
• ACLS and PALS certifications, as appropriate for age, must be obtained within one year of employment or transfer to the department.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED:

• A minimum of 5 years of critical care experience is preferred, with a solid understanding of cardiac medications and arrhythmias. Familiarity with hemodynamic monitoring is beneficial but not essential. This role involves exposure to ionizing radiation, necessitating the use of a lead apron and the ability to stand for extended periods.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

• Ability to read and write basic English, with the skills necessary to interpret physician orders.
• Capability to lift over 100 pounds, with assistance from colleagues.
• Understanding of sterile procedures is essential.
• Strong listening, empathy, and responsiveness to the needs of patients, families, and both internal and external partners are required.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
