Assistant Closing Manager Full Time

Working closely with the Closing Manager, the Assistant Closing Manager is responsible for providing leadership and direction within the club and driving club performance. The role leads recovery, utility, and perishable departments, oversees overnight prep, ensures all areas are clean, stocked, and ready for morning open, and drives audit compliance and team training. Achieve Financial Performance Maintain cost discipline to meet or exceed labor and supply plans. Use reporting to identify trends and opportunities for improved profitability. Develop deep knowledge of key metrics and reporting for total club and department performance. Major Tasks, Responsibilities, And Key Accountabilities Oversee Recovery, Utility, and Perishable departments and overnight prep to ensure readiness for morning open. Walk the floor during closing hours to observe execution, engage with Members, and support team performance. Guarantee Greet, Anticipate, Appreciate and Fast, Friendly, Full, Fresh, Clean experience until the last Member exits. Validate that registers remain open, perishable stations are attended, and all service areas are operational through the final transaction. Resolve or elevate Member concerns during closing for satisfaction and timely service recovery. Monitor inventory levels, product rotation, culling, and merchandising to keep in‑stock and fresh. Confirm completion of daily cleaning checklists and sanitation protocols. Coach Recovery and Utility clerks for efficient task execution. Leverage Hot List, NAFS, reports, and dashboards to validate execution and drive efficiency. Ensure audit readiness by completing all sanitation, cold chain, and safety checklists. Identify and report issues with equipment to prevent operational disruptions. Reinforce ServSafe, PPE compliance, and department training during onboarding. Drive improvement in under‑performing areas through action plans and daily standards. Collaborate with Closing Manager, Assistant Club Managers, Club Manager, and Department Leads for better closing routines and member experience. Inspect products for expiration dates and condition, removing damaged items to uphold food safety. Execute assigned tasks in BJ’s MY WORK system and maintain compliance with company protocols. Provide operational support outside primary scope as directed by club leadership. Follow all safety protocols to operate equipment efficiently. Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance to support execution and leadership coverage. Qualifications Minimum 2 years of experience in retail, supermarket, or warehouse perishable operations. Experience managing inventory turnover and waste reduction strategies. Valid SERVSAFE Food Safety Certification required. High school diploma required; college degree preferred. Basic computer proficiency (MS Word, Excel, Email) required. Open shift availability required. Must be at least 18 years of age. Job Conditions Frequent movement on hard surfaces, occasional bending, pulling, and reaching. Regular lifting up to 30 pounds; occasional heavier lifting with assistance. Exposure to temperature extremes and loud noises within perishable areas. Potential exposure to cleaning agents. Must maintain all training and required certifications.
