As a member of Mercy, you will embrace our mission of providing compassionate care while demonstrating professionalism, respect, and exceptional customer service.Clinical DutiesRoom pediatric patients and obtain accurate vital signs, height, weight, and developmental informationAssist physicians and advanced practice providers during examinations and proceduresAdminister immunizations and injections according to established protocolsPerform point-of-care testingComplete medication reconciliationPrepare and maintain examination rooms and clinical equipmentStock supplies and ensure exam rooms are clean and ready for patient careDocument patient information and maintain accurate electronic medical recordsEnter diagnostic and ancillary orders as directed by providersCommunicate effectively with providers regarding patient concerns and follow-up needsAdministrative DutiesSchedule appointments and coordinate patient follow-up visitsManage patient messages and assist with prescription refill requestsProcess referrals to specialists and ancillary servicesObtain insurance prior authorizations and precertificationsAssist with medical record requests and releasesSupport patient registration and care coordination activities as neededPatient & Family SupportEducate patients and caregivers on medications, immunizations, treatment plans, and preventive care according to clinic policyProvide excellent customer service to patients and familiesDemonstrate sensitivity and understanding of varying developmental stages and cultural backgroundsFoster a welcoming and supportive environment for children and familiesCompliance & QualityMaintain compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality standardsFollow OSHA guidelines, infection prevention practices, and PPE requirementsAdhere to Mercy Quality and Safety policiesParticipate in competency reviews of other Medical Assistants when a Lead MA is unavailableMaintain clinical competencies and required certificationsQualificationsRequiredHigh School Diploma or GEDStrong communication, organizational, and customer service skillsAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced pediatric environmentCommitment to compassionate, family-centered carePreferredGraduate of an accredited Medical Assistant programCertified Medical Assistant (CMA)One year of patient care or medical office experienceExperience administering vaccines and caring for pediatric patientsExperience with referrals, insurance authorizations, and electronic medical recordsTraining RequirementsNew hires must successfully complete Mercy's Medical Assistant Clinic Academy training program.Medical Assistants advancing through the career ladder must complete required MA competencies.At Mercy, we are committed to helping our coworkers grow professionally while providing exceptional care to the communities we serve.
