Responsibilities As an Early Literacy Specialist you will design and deliver structured‑literacy instruction for all K‑2 students. Your day is divided into two parts: focused academic instruction in the morning and outdoor activities in the afternoon. You will: Deliver small‑group structured literacy instruction (phonics, decoding, fluency, early writing) for all K‑2 students Interpret student performance data from adaptive platforms and run‑records to reconfigure groups and modify instruction Guide students individually and in small groups through adaptive learning software, establishing relationships that ensure goal attainment Create lessons grounded in structured literacy methodology calibrated to each group’s level and learning velocity Integrate outdoor or experiential activities into literacy instruction when they authentically strengthen learning outcomes What You Won’t Be Doing Drafting IEPs or managing pull‑out intervention schedules with general education teachers Providing passive supervision during app‑based learning; you actively guide students toward goal completion Remaining in a conventional classroom throughout the day; students engage in outdoor programming each afternoon Correcting large volumes of worksheets – adaptive software handles practice repetition and progress monitoring Early Literacy Specialist Key Responsibilities Drive measurable acceleration in reading and writing proficiency across the full K‑2 population through structured literacy methods and adaptive learning technologies. Basic Requirements Bachelor’s degree in any discipline Master’s degree in reading instruction OR structured literacy certification (Orton‑Gillingham, Wilson Reading System, IMSE, CERI, LETRS, Neuhaus, UFLI). Credential is mandatory.
