Head Volleyball Coach – Nelsonville, OH Job Id: 695 | # of Openings: 1 Position Purpose This position reports to the Athletics Director. It is a professional coaching position that must comply with national, regional, and state intercollegiate athletic associations, the NJCAA, and Hocking College policies, rules, and regulations. Duties and Responsibilities Recruit quality prospective student‑athletes and ensure timely submission of their academic records for admissions. Plan coaching and practice sessions in accordance with NJCAA and Region 12 regulations. Coach team members individually and in groups, demonstrate game techniques, and manage a designated skill development area or group of positions. Actively participate in volleyball related communities, including Discord channels and conference committees. Develop and recommend game strategy and position assignments. Monitor the purchase of uniforms, equipment and supplies, ensuring expense control and administration of the sport’s budget. Coordinate with the Athletic Director on recruiting and team travel planning. Participate in selection and fitting of team equipment. Promote the athletic program and specific sport through community events, public speaking, fundraising, and marketing. Ensure adherence to all Association, Conference, and College rules by athletes and supporting staff. Monitor academic progress and status of team members, implementing action plans through appropriate staff when needed. Maintain discipline and conduct of student athletes to support the image and reputation of the athletics program. Qualifications – Education, Experience, and Skills Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in an appropriate field of specialization. One year of coaching experience at the high school or higher level. Up to one year of graduate student or internship experience may replace part of the required experience. Additional education and/or experience may be required for certain sports. Relevant professional level coaching experience may substitute for the degree requirements.
