Assistant Baseball Coach Location: Nelsonville, OH Job ID: 929 | # of Openings: 1 Stipend: $5,000 Position Purpose: This position reports to the Head Coach - Baseball. It is a professional coaching role that requires adherence to the policies, rules, and regulations of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), regional conferences, and Hocking College. The Assistant Baseball Coach supports the Head Coach by coaching student‑athletes, recruiting, monitoring academic progress, scheduling, managing travel, and overseeing the discipline, conduct, and image of the team members. Responsibilities Recruit quality prospective student‑athletes and ensure timely submission of their academic records for admissions. Plan coaching and practice sessions in accordance with NJCAA and conference regulations. Coach team members individually and in groups, demonstrating game techniques and managing designated skill development areas. Develop and recommend game strategy and position assignments. Monitor purchase of uniforms, equipment, and supplies, managing expense control and the sport’s budget. Coordinate with the Athletic Director on recruiting and team travel planning. Participate in selection and fitting of team equipment. Promote the athletic program through community events, public speaking, fundraising, and marketing. Ensure adherence to all Association, Conference, and College rules by athletes and supporting staff. Monitor academic progress and status of team members, implementing action plans with appropriate staff when needed. Maintain discipline and conduct of student‑athletes to support the program’s image and reputation. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in a relevant field of study. One year of coaching experience at the high school or higher level. Graduate student or internship experience acceptable for up to one year of the required experience. Additional education or experience may be required for certain sports. Related professional coaching experience can substitute for degree requirements. Stipend $5,000 from July 1 through June 30.
