DCS Program Coordinator – Foster Care Support Team This position is a DCS Program Coordinator role on the Foster Care Support team in the Statewide Specialized Support Services division, currently located in Dyer County. Overview The classification is responsible for children’s services program evaluation, coordination, and consultative work of considerable difficulty, and for program policy and procedure development of average difficulty. The coordinator ensures programs and contracts are administered in accordance with all pertinent policies and may serve in a supervisory role over subordinate staff. Responsibilities Process new traditional, kinship, and ICPC foster home requests. Provide direct communication with foster parents to ensure safety and support. Coordinate, evaluate, and monitor programs and contracts to assure adherence to policies. Qualifications Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and equivalently four years of professional work in counseling or case management services, or program evaluations of such services. Three of those years must involve working with children and/or juveniles. Substitution of Education for Experience: Graduate coursework credit received in related fields may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of one year, with no substitution for the required three years of child‑services work. Substitution of Experience for Education: One year of experience as a DCS Program Specialist or a DCS Case Manager III with the State of Tennessee can substitute for one year of education. Necessary Special Qualifications: At least 21 years of age. Citizen of the United States. Valid driver’s license during employment. Good moral character determined by investigation. Completion of a criminal history disclosure form as approved by the appointing authority. No felony conviction. Agreement to release all records involving criminal history to the appointment authority. Submission of a fingerprint sample per TBI requirements. Pass a pre‑employment screening test for illegal drug use. Criminal background check will be required.
