Instrument Assembly Technician

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Build, integrate, and understand the full assembly process for production instruments
  • Assemble multiple product lines, including sub-assembly integration
  • Maintain device history records (serial numbers, tools used) and reporting
  • Perform basic component testing on pre-assemblies and simple instrument modules
  • Identify defects and recommend design/process improvements
  • Read and interpret drawings, work instructions, and workmanship standards
  • Train associates on mechanical and basic testing activities
  • Execute test instructions, analyze results, and determine pass/fail outcomes
  • Conduct routine to moderately complex troubleshooting and repair work
  • Perform standard material handling for raw materials and sub-assemblies
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and all safety/housekeeping policies
  • Work overtime as needed to meet business requirements

Experience Required

  • 3-7 years overall; HS diploma/GED with 3 years manufacturing experience, or AA technical degree with 1 year experience (regulated environment experience required)

Skills & Certifications

  • Electromechanical assembly in a production environment
  • Mechanical tool proficiency (torque drivers, gauges, bits)
  • Reading and interpreting drawings, dimensions, and specifications
  • Leadership, mentoring, and coaching ability
  • Continuous Improvement / Lean Manufacturing participation (Kaizen, Blitzes)
  • Time management across multiple production orders
  • Independent judgment for troubleshooting and problem-solving
  • Basic PC proficiency (Windows environment)
  • Strong English communication, basic arithmetic, and chart analysis

Eligibilities & qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED (3 years manufacturing experience) or AA technical degree (1 year experience)
  • Experience in a regulated environment required
  • Reliable transportation required (location not accessible via public transit)
  • Safety shoes required
  • Able to work overtime as required
  • Able to stand for long periods in a repetitive work environment
  • Able to start with cleared criminal background check while education/employment verification is pending
