Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing

Description We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) to provide exceptional educational services to students with hearing impairments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in specialized instruction, a commitment to inclusivity, and a passion for helping students reach their full potential. Requirements Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, addressing their unique educational, social, and communication needs.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with families and multidisciplinary teams.
- Adapt curriculum and materials to align with students' communication methods, such as American Sign Language (ASL), auditory/oral approaches, or total communication.
- Utilize assistive technology, such as hearing aids, cochlear implants, and FM systems, to support student access to instruction.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to create an inclusive classroom environment.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed.
- Provide guidance and resources to students, families, and school staff about hearing loss, communication strategies, and accommodations.
- Advocate for the needs of students with hearing impairments within the school and community.
- Stay current with best practices and advances in education for the deaf and hard of hearing through professional development.
