Locums - Stuart, Florida NP/PA Cardiothoracic Surgery First Assist Opportunity Clinical Role Join an established cardiothoracic surgery team in Stuart, Florida, providing inpatient first-assist coverage for cardiac, cardiothoracic, cardiovascular, and thoracic surgery. This locums opportunity supports a busy surgical service with approximately 20-30 surgeries per month, primarily CABG procedures, along with valve and aortic surgeries. The position also includes CVICU and telemetry rounding responsibilities and rotating first-call surgical coverage. Assignment Details Start Date: October 12, 2026 Contract Length: 13 weeks Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:30 AM-3:30 PM Rotating weekends as needed Coverage Requirements: Inpatient coverage No outpatient clinic schedule No OPD responsibilities First-call surgical coverage Minimum of 6 nights of call per month Night and weekend call Call hours: 7:00 PM-7:00 AM Average callbacks: 1-2 per month No telemedicine required Position Highlights NP/PA Cardiothoracic Surgery first-assist opportunity Inpatient setting Approximately 20-30 surgeries per month Approximately 75% CABG and 25% valve/aortic surgeries Endoscopic vein harvesting experience required Maquet EVH system experience preferred CVICU and telemetry rounding Minimum of 6 nights of call per month Three cardiothoracic/cardiovascular surgeons on staff EPIC EMR Local referral base No trauma Clinical Details & Responsibilities Practice Setting: Inpatient Cardiac, Cardiothoracic, Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery Daily Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:30 AM-3:30 PM Rotating weekends as needed No outpatient clinic No OPD responsibilities Clinical Responsibilities: Serve as a cardiothoracic surgery first assist Assist with cardiac and cardiothoracic surgical procedures Perform endoscopic vein harvesting Round on CVICU patients Round on telemetry patients Participate in first-call surgical coverage Provide inpatient surgical support Assist with CABG procedures Assist with valve and aortic surgeries Surgical Caseload Estimated Monthly Volume: 20-30 surgeries Caseload Breakdown: Approximately 75% CABG Approximately 25% valve/aortic and other cardiothoracic surgeries Surgical Team: 3 cardiothoracic/cardiovascular surgeons Minimum of 4 providers/support staff per shift Approximately 20 inpatient census Specialty & Procedure Requirements Required Experience: Proficiency as a Cardiothoracic Surgery first assist Experience with endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) Preferred Experience: Maquet EVH system experience EVH certification Fellowship: Not required Requirements PA-C or AGACNP - Required Active Florida license - Required Compact license providers may be accepted Cardiothoracic Surgery first-assist experience - Required Endoscopic vein harvesting experience - Required CVICU experience - Required Comfortable rounding on CVICU and telemetry patients EVH certification - Preferred Maquet EVH system experience - Preferred Vaccination requirement - Yes Credentialing Please inquire for current credentialing timeline.
